Yes, we all know that Mockingbird is blissfully booze-free, but how about becoming more blissful in even more aspects of your life? Follow this short guide for our thoughts and ideas, that are free to take, use and hopefully improve on your everyday feelings and struggles; ultimately helping you to become more blissful.
- extremely happy; full of joy.
- providing perfect happiness or great joy.
Becoming more blissful can be part of your hourly, daily or weekly routine in a few easy steps. Everything you need is within you and within your power.
Such a simple one! In for four, out for eight. Let it go. Breathe in positivity and breathe out negativity. You can this for as long or as little as you find comfortable. Imagine physically exhaling your worries and inhaling more inner peace.
In a completely literal sense, you might find bliss in having your bare feet touch the ground, imagining you are grounding yourself to the earth and tapping into its energy. Another method of grounding (without the need for foot nudity) is to take the time to notice your surroundings by saying aloud or in your head what colours you can see, what things you can smell or touching something around you and acknowledging its presence.
Mindfulness and meditation are often lumped together for their similarities, and both can be tapped into at any stage throughout your day. Instead of trying to trick yourself into emptying your mind of stress or anxieties, instead you can just focus on ‘being’. The aim is to be mindful of how you are feeling whilst focussing on the art of ‘being’. Be still, be relaxed and just ‘be’. And FYI ‘Mindfulness is the awareness of “some-thing,” while meditation is the awareness of “no-thing”.’ Try and incorporate a bit of both, perhaps?
Listen to your body, it has all the answers. You will know what nutrition your body is needing from tuning into your cravings. Admittedly, sometimes that might be a doughnut or fries but more often than not you’ll know that getting the right nutrition will energise you and make you feel more able to attend to tasks that are required of you. The aim of the game is to be well-nourished.
‘Are you getting enough exercise?’ can sound a bit accusatory but ‘have you had enough movement?’ is altogether a little more understanding. You might not have sweated it out on the spin bike today but stretching your legs on a walk around the block can still get those elusive endorphins pumping. Make sure you’ve moved today if you feel your mind wandering to a less blissful state, once you have you can tick it off your list and feel proud for embracing some motion today – stagnation can be toxic, shake it off!
The key to success is listening to your mind, body and soul and following the guidance they give to you in their most natural state. Becoming blissful is not sourced from outside people, belongings, or places – it can be found in the simplest areas of your brain, and you can tap into it whenever and wherever you feel like doing so.
Practice might make perfect, but perfection is not necessarily the goal – we make progress in our practice and that’s the most important thing to remember. Build blissful moments into your life and add as necessary.
